F THE PLUS: STORIES OF FAILED ASIAN EXCELLENCE
F the Plus is a dark comedy anthology series that uses laughter as a remedy to the unrealistic expectations place on Asians because of the model minority myth. Two shorts were produced as a launching pad for this original IP. “Unsatisfied” pushes boundaries and buttons when Ernie Yee has to seek out a SiFu to teach him how to satisfy his new non-traditional girlfriend. “Cry Harder” is the fate of new parents, a baby that won’t shut up. Both shorts showcase an original voice and creative storytelling
There was an article in Shoot magazine written about how this short’s style and theme of going against typical stereotypes is part of a larger popular trend of Asians breaking new ground in how they are portrayed. To read the article, click here.
